Boxing for Parkinson's
Boxing for Parkinson’s (PD) in Rochester
Class Descriptions:
A boxing class will focus on slowing the progression of Parkinson’s disease symptoms. The focus changes weekly to address the complicated motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s. Boxing can improve your balance, strength, posture, and coordination! No boxing experience is required, but a diagnosis of Parkinson’s and an evaluation are required prior to participating.
- Level 1/2 is our more advanced, faster-paced class. You will maximize the intensity of the workout at this level.
- Level 3/4 is a similar workout to the higher level class, with more time to transition between exercises. Greater fall precautions are taken at this level to maximize safety.
Boxing for Parkinson's
The Parkinson's Wellness Program includes staff that are trained in the nationally recognized Rock Steady Boxing program. These classes are ideal for any clients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease or Parkinsonisms. Each exercise we prescribe in our group setting, individual sessions, and online programs are based on the latest research in exercise and Parkinson's. Certain exercises can tap into the brain's ability to form new neuron connections.
