The Power of Perspective

Change is a normal part of life, but it is not always comfortable. The seasons will change, our relationships will change, and our bodies will change…it's inevitable. Change can be fun and exciting, or sometimes it feels forced and uncomfortable. Everything that we do in life first starts with our perspective. Every one of us has different views on life due to multiple different things, our experiences, belief systems, interpretations, or point of view. This does not make us wrong; it makes us unique. As we go through the ups and downs of life, it is essential to weed through old beliefs that no longer serve us. If we hold onto old beliefs, we could be blocking many opportunities that we face in life. Uncertain times can open up new doors that we may have never considered. There are many ways we can change our perspective, weed out old beliefs, and open ourselves to new possibilities.

Find your passion

Passion is one of the most effective motivators when it comes to accomplishing new possibilities. When people are living from passion, they tend to be more fulfilled, happier, and healthier. It's time for you to stop wondering about the "what-ifs" behind your passion. It's time to start living it.

Where is your focus?

To quote Socrates, "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but building the new." Sometimes we have to let go of our expectations of what "should be" and embrace what "could be." To do so, we must change our perspective. In life, we have plenty of unforeseen circumstances. Instead of focusing on what we can not control, we can focus on what we can. We tend to give away a lot of power. It is more comfortable to sit back and say, "whoa is me" than to get up and make real changes. Choosing to focus on positive things will have a significant impact on your mood, outlook, and overall spirit. So stop looking in the rearview mirror and think of all the new possibilities tomorrow brings.

Practice Mindful living

There can be a lot of fear that surrounds change. Sometimes we can fall into a pattern of the “what ifs” in life. “What if” it fails? “What if” no one likes the new me. So how do we grow if we are fearful of change? Let’s talk a minute about Mindful Living. This seems to be the catchphrase lately, but what does it mean? Mindfulness, in short, is paying attention to the present moment, on purpose without judgments! When you are present, you notice your current perspective and choose to view life from a new position. Not because one is right and one is wrong, but because you are more open and less fearful of change. Being in the present moment allows us to see more transparent and respond to life purposefully, instead of with quick reactions. When we react without a clear mind, we fall right into the patterns of fear and anxiety. There are multiple ways you can incorporate the practice of mindful living into your life.

  • Meditation

  • Mindful walking

  • Deep breathing techniques

  • Mind/body motion like yoga or tai chi.

Wellness 360 embraces and incorporates all of the branches of mindfulness into our online classes and studio. It is essential to take a few minutes for yourself every day! Take a few deep breaths and bring your thoughts back to the present moment. It seems hard to believe, but just a small change in your perception can help you embrace change and be less fearful of the what-ifs. When you change the way, you view the world, the world you’re viewing changes. I encourage you to take advantage of the rough spots you encounter in life, for they can open up your perspective and performance. When you widen your perspective, solutions will fall into place. When you walk in your path, you are successful, continue to learn, expand your horizons, and turn every obstacle into opportunities!
